If your camera is going to be sitting on sticks all day (event, etc.), this follow focus (with extension arm) allows you to get a bit away from the camera and keep everything sharp. If you’re using an external monitor or recording device and have to be a one-man-band on the audio mix, being able to grab the wheel a few inches removed from the rig can make all the difference between feeling like you have the situation under control and feeling like you’re babysitting the camera. This follow focus also works great for bigger shoulder rigs in which the focus puller can’t get close to the rig because of a million accessories or—lets face it—the guy with the glass on his shoulders is about a million feet taller than the AC.
